Tree Fern Lodge comprises two country style timber buildings joined by a covered verandah, set in rolling grassy hills at the edge of pristine rainforest.
The older of the two buildings has 2 bedrooms and a sitting room. The building was originally a beachside kiosk at Kiama, before being dismantled and rebuilt as the first part of Tree Fern Lodge. The hardwood timber used the frame and external walls and floors dates to the early 20th Century. Inside this wing the owners constructed three timber-lined rooms linked by a central hallway. The main bedroom in this wing has one queen size bed while the second bedroom has a tri-bunk bed, standard double mattress on the lower level and a large single mattress on the top. A total of 5 guests can sleep in this wing. There is a modest bathroom servicing these two bedrooms (the main bathroom is in the other wing). All beds have electric blankets and room heaters, with doonas or blankets, as you prefer. Guests need to bring their own sheets and pillow cases for the beds.
The newer building has been recently upgraded with a wonderful sun filled sunroom which captures views out to the ocean. On the other end of this pavillion has seen an extension that now offers a large modern master bedroom with a timber framed queen bed that looks out on to the Japanese garden and around to the rain forest. A brand new bathroom and additional toilet has been added with a built in hidden laundry.
The space between the sunroom and master bedroom shows off timber external and internal walls, and the owners have made it open plan with a quarry tile floor. It has a kitchen well equipped for cooking; an Italian all-electric range with ceramic cooktop; fan forced multi-function oven; a microwave; a full range of utensils, cutlery and crockery; and pots and pans. There is a large timber island bench for food preparation. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large timber dining table that will comfortably seat eight people. At the opposite end of the living area there is a leather lounge suite comprising a three seater sofa and two armchairs where guests can sit in front of the combustion fire. An air conditioning unit has been added to keep this area cool in summer and warm in winter.
A fabulous pizza oven has been built outside the living area so guests can now enjoy making home made pizzas.
For entertainment, there is a TV, stereo with CD/DVD and tuner, plus a range of CDs and DVDs. We also have a collection of books for fireside and bedside reading or to enjoy in the sun room! We have two large water tanks and plenty of rain to keep them full! We also have an outdoor table and chairs, two “steamer” style lounges and a gas BBQ.
The owners have installed and wonderful garden for guests to wander through at the bottom of the hill and have made the property like a natural art gallery with hanging art installations and rock gardens.
Tree Fern Lodge is a joyful property where guests can enjoy getting back to nature and take time out from the jaded city life.
There is abundant local wildlife and you may come across Wombats, Lyrebirds, Echidnas and many native bird species.

A lovely weekend was had. The surrounds were beautiful. Thank you for having us!
Great Location We stayed at Tree Fern Lodge for a long weekend in July. The house was very cozy and well furnished for the winter weather. Having the split house had pros and cons of course. It was good to have the noise split between the 2 houses but difficult with children coming in and out. Overall we had a great time and were very happy with the house.
Beautiful, secluded and peaceful We really enjoyed our stay at Tree Fern. We stayed there for 3 nights in July and between the fireplace and heaters we were warm and snug the whole time. It was a chilly venture between buildings but we were able to warm up quickly. The grounds are beautiful and perfect for short or long walks. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. Thanks.
Great property Fantastic location, really peaceful. Fire was lovely. Pretty basic accommodation but that was what we expected.
A very enjoyable stay... An excellent value location, with magnificent views and a property to wander around on. We saw our first wild wombat, and the bird life was spectacular. I was also impressed by the quality of the kitchen and the utensils. The heating was very effective, and beds very comfy. A wonderful experience altogether.
Fantastic stay We had a fantastic stay at Tree Fern Lodge. Excellent location, clean and comfortable with everything you could need. This was our second stay and we would absolutely come back again.
